Elandria Cameron Obituary

Elandria M. Cameron, 50, departed this life on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at her home in Virginia Beach, VA. Elandria was born January 26, 1969 at Margaret Hays Hospital in Jersey City, NJ to Georgia Ruth Cameron.

Elandia, affectionately known as "Gidget" was educated in the Jersey City school system. She attended Lutheran Elementary School and Henry Snyder High School. Upon graduating, Elandria worked at varies companies until she landed her career job working as a civilian for the United States Federal Government. In March of 1989, she began her career at the Military Traffic Management Command in Bayonne, NJ where she was a Traffic Managment Specialist. When the office closed in 1999, she transferred to the Surface Deployment Distribution Command (SDDC) In Monmouth, NJ. In 2001, Elandria has the opportunity to relocate with a few others from her department to Fort Eustis, VA. She worked there until she was given a chance to move her career in another direction. In 2008, Elandria ventured into doing contracts, and she became a Contract Specialist for the US Army Corps of Engineers, which took her to Concord, MA. To make herself more marketable in the field, she took classes at Saint Leo University, where she earned her BA in Business Management, and minored in Business Aministration. Although she was grateful for the many opportunities to advance her career, she longed to be back in Virginia. In 2014, she returned back to Fort Eustis, were she worked until her health began to fail her. She received numerous awards for her achievements throughout her career.

Cooking became a passion of hers. She was famous for her lasagna from scratch, which she learned from her mother, and her Hennessy meatballs. She didn't cook all the time, but when she did, you were in for some good eating.

Elandria was a loving, caring and giving person. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her family and close friends. She loved and lived her life on her own terms. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved and cared for her.

Elandria leaves to cherish and honor her memory, her loving mother, Georgia Ruth Cameron of the home; one brother, Charles Cameron of Jersey City, NJ; one niece, Iranda Cameron; one grand-nephew, Nathan Shelton, both of Totowa, NJ; one uncle, George Cameron (Edith) of Bunn, NC; three aunts, Fannie Cameron, San Antonio, TX; Katie Cameron, Jersey City, NJ, Yvonne Cameron, Brooklyn, NY; special friends, Karl Ellis (Kaz); Mark Farguharso, Peter Jennings, Felecia Johnson-Hay, Marva Burroughs-Parker, Kelly Felder, Onekia Smith, Nate Crawford, and a host of other relatives and friends.
