Lucinda Jones Smith

Lucinda Jones Smith, 93 of the 1000 block of Dulcie Ave. transitioned to heaven quietly and peaceful in her home March 25, 2018. She fought a valiant fight with Alzheimer's Disease for several years. She is a native of Enfield, NC, born November 19, 1924 to the late Arthur and Corrina Jones. Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her devoted husband, Alexander Smith, Jr.

Mrs. Smith graduated from Winston-Salem State College with a bachelor's degree in education. She retired from Norfolk City Public Schools after 30 years of dedicated service.

Mrs. Smith was a faithful member of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church. She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Virginia Beach/Chesapeake Chapter and also a member of Chums, Inc.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, two daughters, Barbara Smith-Ridley and Carolyn Trotman; grandchildren, Kenny Trotman, Tracy Jamison, Corey Ridley and Bonyetta Trotman; five great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
