Walter Edward Howard

Walter Edward Howard, 69, passed away January 22, 2018.  He was born October 18, 1948 to the late Alice Mae and Hazel Reap, Sr. in Virginia Beach, VA.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Horace and Calvin Reap and one sister, Georgia West.

Walter was a 1967 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.  He served 2 years in the U.S. Army.  He was employed with the Virginia Beach Public School system and retired from Civil Service after 41 years. Walter was a member of Big Piney Grove Baptist Church, Virginia Beach.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking.

He is survived by his wife, Millicent Howard; one daughter, Angela Haley (David); one son, Arthur M. Howard; five sisters, Rosa Simmons (David) of Conyers, GA, Louvenia Reap of Newark, NJ, Sarah Anderson (John) of Portsmouth, Cynthia Barnes (Jay) and Marion Baker (Randy) both of Norfolk; four brothers, Hazel Reap, Jr. of Norfolk, Thaddeus Reap of Singapore, Darryl Reap of Virginia Beach and Isaac Reap of Norfolk; five grandchildren, Dereka N. James, Derek E. James, DeAngelo E. James, Devonte L. Howard and Zion Bailey; nine great-grandchilden, Jhiveon James, Qwalique James, Christopher Jones, Empress James, Damarrii James, Jacion James, DeAngelo, Deandre and Jelvon James; and a host of other relatives and friends.
