William Harvey Ellis

On Monday, January 22, 2018, our beloved father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, William Harvey Ellis was called to his eternal home. He was born April 11, 1954 to the late Doris Smith and William Howard Ellis in Portsmouth, VA. William was predeceased by a brother, Glenn Ellis.

William was educated in the Portsmouth Public School system. He was employed as a Police Officer with the Norfolk Police Department for 15 years and later he became a Heavy Equipment Operator for 11 years.

In his leisure time, William enjoyed dancing, singing, football, watching movies, working out and spending time with his family.

He leaves to cherish his memories, six children, Patricia Ellis (Johnnie Crumble), Cheryl DiPietro (Garrett), Dana Windley (Steven), Brandon Marone, William Harvey Ellis, Jr. and Shane Ellis; one brother, Tony Ellis; 17 grandchildren, Felichia Thompson, Kaylrah Thompson, Sommer Earl, Tatianna Berry, Larry Earl, Jr., Mariah Berry, Leah Windley, Bailey, Talynn, Ashlynn, Broklynn, Kylah Marone, Jasmine Ellis, William Harvey Ellis, III and Tannar DiPietro; four great-grandchildren, Kyah Gregory, Izayah Wiggins, Isaac Caffee and Ariann Baron; and a host of other relatives and friends.
