Winford Collis Wright, Jr.

Winford Collis Wright, Jr., 69, answered the Master’s Call to eternal rest on January 26, 2018. He was born January 16, 1949 to the late Ruby Virginia Wright and Winford C. Wright, Sr. in Princess Anne County, VA. He was predeceased by a brother, Lonnie Wright and a sister, Patrice Twillie.

Winford was educated in the Virginia Beach Public School system graduating from First Colonial High School and later served his country in the U.S. Army where he received an honorable discharge in 1970. 

Winford was a 1980 graduate of Norfolk State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.  While at Norfolk State University, Winford served as the Production Manager and Editor of the Spartan Echo campus paper. He also worked as an Intern News Reporter for the Norfolk Ledger Star evening newspaper in 1977. Most recently, he was employed with Norfolk International Airport where he was an Airport Security Guard until he retired.

He leaves to cherish his memory a sister, Martha Wright; nieces, Christine and Janine Felton; nephews, Aaron and Willie Felton and J.R. Twillie; and a host of other relatives and friends.
