Adella Hollomand Obituary

Obituary

“God saw you getting tired, a cure was not to be; so he put his loving arms around you and whispered, come to me.  With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away.  Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.  A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands put to rest.  God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.”

On Monday afternoon, January 26, 2026, God called Sister Adella Elizabeth Hollomand, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend from labor to reward. She was 87 years old.

Adella was born April 14, 1938 in Princess Anne County to the late John M. Elliott, Sr. and Martha V. Elliott. She attended public school in Princess Anne County.  She served in the Food Service Industry at Little Creek Amphibious Base and was employed at The Virginian-Pilot for 30 years.  Adella was the oldest of 13 children and after the passing of the late Martha Elliott, she became the Matriarch of the Elliott Family.  She was a lover of all sports, especially golf, and was a talented gardener.  She had the greenest thumb and could get anything to grow whether it be flowers or vegetables.  A long time and faithful member of the United House of Prayer for All People, Adella served on the 2nd Sunday Choir often referred to as the “Dynamite # 2 Choir”.

In addition to her parents, Adella is predeceased by brothers John Elliott Jr., Lawrence Elliott, and Persell Elliott; and sons Shannon Ricks and Vincent Hollomand, Jr..

Adella leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Vincent Hollomand, Sr.; four daughters, Stacey Oguike, Eufemia Gen Ricks (Allen Harris), Denise Lopez (Juan), and Elaine Hollomand;  one son, Raymond Ricks Jr.; six grandchildren, Samaira Ellsworth (Leroy), Shawn Ricks, Ebi Ekure, Ebony Ricks, Vincent Avery, and James Fudge; four great grandchildren, Jabari Ellsworth, Emeri Ekure, Adrianna Ellsworth, and Ivy Ekure;  two sisters, Ardelia Johnson and Clarice Elliott; five brothers, Therman Elliott (Alice), Daniel Elliott (Earlene), Floyd Elliott (Sheila), Alphonso Elliott (Angela), James Elliott (Deborah).  In addition, she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Prayerfully, The Family
