Alberta Whitehead Obituary

Obituary

On Saturday, October 2, 2021 Alberta "Philstick" Virginia Perry Whitehead transitioned from her earthly residence to her heavenly mansion.  She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, devoted grandmother and friend.  Alberta was born to the late Mary Perry and John C. Cuffee in Princess Anne County now known as Virginia Beach, VA.

Alberta was educated in the Virginia Beach Public School System. She joined Union Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized under the late Rev. S. L. Scott, Jr.  She later joined the Choir and the Young at Heart Senior Ministry.

Alberta, better known as Philstick, loved cooking, but she loved Bingo & Dover Casino more. She worked at Dam Neck Naval Base Galley as a cook. She later became a caregiver to many children in the family and neighborhood where she resided. If you knew Alberta, you knew laughter, love, a good crab cake, egg roll, macaroni and cheese, deviled eggs, potato salad and homemade biscuits. She enjoyed fishing and crabbing with close friends and family. Nothing in the world meant more to her than family. When you visited her home, you would leave with your belly stuffed from food and laughter. One thing being in her presence you were for sure going to have a good time. Our Philstick was a true joy to be around!

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie L. Whitehead, stepfather and mother James and Mary Hunter, father John C. Cuffee, oldest brother, Kelly Knight, and sister Martha “Boo Boo” Holmes.

Alberta leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her beautiful life, two loving sons, Deon Perry (Adrienne) of Virginia Beach, VA and Terrill Perry (Stephanie) of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter-in-love, Shantel of Chesapeake, Virginia; eight granddaughters: Shacara, Terea, Terriel, Tychelile, Erica, Myah, Ciara, Jazzmin; three grandsons: Deontae, Logan, Max; four great-grandchildren Kamarri, Kalani, Jaylen and DeMario; nine siblings: Rev. Elbert T. Knight, Garfield Knight (Lillian), Doris Hunt (Willie Roy, Robert Cuffee, Brenda Hopkins (James), Lenora Hunt, LaVonna May (Rodney), one brother-in-law Charlie Whitehead; her right-hand Jimmy & Evelyn Olds, Jeanette Allen and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
