Alvin George Williams

Alvin George Williams “Ken” passed away peacefully on March 22nd, 2025, in Virginia Beach. He was the son of the late Wilbert and Hilda Williams. Ken was born in Clarendon Jamaica on January 16th, 1938. He graduated from James Hill school, became a tailor and later a bus conductor in Jamaica. In 1959 he immigrated to England where he drove the iconic double-decker buses. Ken met and married the love of his life Hortense Smith “Flo”. In 1991 they moved to Virginia Beach.

He settled into the community and became a member of a local church. He had a passion for singing in his church choir. Ken worked with his daughter’s janitorial company, then drove buses for the Virginia Beach school system and ultimately worked as a Host at his son’s restaurant Cobalt Grille. He loved music, cricket and playing dominoes, his biggest passion was for his family.

Ken is survived by his wife of 63 years. Sisters- Enid, Carmel, Lelieth, Ena, Dorothea and Ruth. Brothers- Titus (deceased), Gladston, Irvin and Derrick (deceased). Children- Deletta, Alison (deceased), Marcia and Alvin. Grandchildren- Daniel, Delvin, Fellicia, Christopher, Deondra, Du’Ryan, Alisha, Sasha, Darrious and Penelope. Great Grandchildren- Wynter, Mekai, Ahmari, C.J, Travis, Violet, Maliyah, Aria, Stephan, Stephen, Leo and Aurora.

A service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11 AM at New Jerusalem ministries 5184 Singleton Way in Virginia Beach.
