ANNETTE DEYOUNG REDDICK-CHAVIS was born to the late Margaret Reddick on June 26, 1960 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Annette grew up in the Atlantic Park, Friendship Village, and Beach Town areas and later found residence for over 15 years on Old Virginia Beach Road. Finding Christ, she became a devoted member at The Upper Room on the Rock, COGIC where she served as usher, a praise team and choir member. A PRAYER WARRIOR IS WHO SHE WAS!!!! She was straight forward and would tell you what it was with no hesitation.
She worked for different hotels, Shore Laundry, Albano Cleaners, and was a janitor for Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Due to medical reasons, she was forced to stop working for five years. After being medically cleared, she regained employment with her lifelong friend, Cheryl Wright at A&C Alternative Care for 3 ½ years, where she found friendship within her patient, Jenny. On July 19, 2024, she became ill and was taken to Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. She was later transferred to Norfolk Health and Rehabilitation Center, where God called her to her eternal home on October 8, 2024.
She leaves to treasure her memories, five daughters, Angela D. Reddick, Sheri S. Reddick, Lakeysha A. Reddick, Tasha R. Reddick and Teresa A. Reddick-Hyman; 19 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers, Troy D. Reddick and Dennis E. Cox; and best friend for over 40 years and Sister in Christ, Dorothy Galloway. She is preceded in death by her husband of 7 years, Albert Chavis; oldest daughter, Marion Victoria Reddick; granddaughter, Tashawna Maria Harrison-Reddick; great-grandson, Carter Antonio Harris; and older brother, Hilton Ray Reddick. Although God allowed her to share His love with us, He needed her to come home with Him. Sister Reddick-Chavis, we will always cherish the sweet memories of the joy you brought into our lives!!
