A Glimpse of Brandon Bernard Skinner’s Life
Brandon Bernard Skinner was welcomed into the world on January 4, 1989, at New York University Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He was the beloved son of Bernard Skinner and Sandra Rose Crews‑Skinner, and the adored grandson of Helen Stokes Crews.
Brandon spent his early childhood in Brooklyn, New York, where he began his education and formed his earliest memories. Later, he moved with his parents to Virginia, continuing his schooling in the area and ultimately graduating from Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
From a young age, Brandon embraced his love for Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He participated in several local ministries, where he deepened his faith, expanded his understanding, and found joy in fellowship. These ministries also offered him meaningful friendships, uplifting activities, and a sense of belonging.
Through Church of the Messiah in Chesapeake, Virginia, Brandon was baptized by the Reverend Dr. Marty O’Rourke in a beautiful ceremony held at the oceanfront. His faith continued to flourish, and he became an enthusiastic participant in The Chosen Ministry at Church of the Holy Family in Virginia Beach.
In addition, he shared in activities at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Brandon is a cherished member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, where he faithfully served in the Usher Ministry. His warm presence, gentle spirit, and willingness to serve made him a beloved part of the church family.
He enjoyed traveling near and afar, and found joy in movies, gaming, music, and animation, all which brought him laughter, creativity, and relaxation.
On Monday, March 23, 2026, at the young age of 37, Brandon was summoned home and greeted by his Heavenly Father.
He leaves behind cherished memories for his devoted mother, Sandra Crews‑Skinner; aunts, Verde Skinner (The Bronx, New York), Loretta Browne (Coral Springs, Florida) and LaVerne Skinner (The Bronx, New York); Beloved Godmother, “Nanny Jewel” Quinn (Mandeville, Louisiana); and devoted friend, Archie Gittens, Jr. (Norfolk, Virginia). He is also remembered with love by a host of cousins on both his maternal and paternal sides.
Brandon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Reverend Samuel and Helen Stokes Crews; paternal grandparents, Charles and Reather Skinner; maternal aunts, Brenda Crews and Betty Hampton; and paternal aunt, Shirley Moore, along with other relatives who have gone before him.
We are deeply grateful for the time God allowed us to share with our treasured Brandon. His light, his faith, and his love will remain with us always.
