Obituary For Mother Caroline Christine Brock
Our precious Caroline Brock of Virginia Beach, Virginia, a city formerly known as Princess Anne County, peacefully entered eternal rest on March 22, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of the late Rufus Brock, Sr. and Nettie Cornick-Brock.
Caroline’s Christian training began at home at the feet of her parents. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and joined Little Piney Grove Baptist Church. She was an active and devoted member for many decades. She absolutely loved the LORD and was a whole-hearted worshiper, often allowing her praise to spill over into a “shout-dance.” Caroline was active in various aspects of ministry including the following: the Usher Ministry (Charmain), WAGS (Wisdom and Grace Seniors Ministry), Praise Dancers, Culinary Ministry, Sunday School, Mass Choir Ministry (president), Bible Study, Computer Class, Vacation Bible School, and Family Day (Chairman). She was also affiliated God’s Anointed Women’s Ministry (An Intercessory Prayer and Bible Study Group), and with and with the Rosetta Chapter #119 Order of the Eastern Star Prince Hall Affiliation (Past Worthy Matron).
Caroline was educated in the Princess Anne County Schools and attended Union Kempsville High. After high school, she moved to Brooklyn, New York. She worked at PS284 as a school support staff employee (family assistant) and retired in 1993. After retiring from New York, she returned to Virginia Beach and worked with the Virginia Beach Public Schools System. After leaving the school system, she worked with Kelly Assistant as a caregiver and retired after many years of helping ailing patients.
Caroline was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was known for her delicious meals. She loved to cook and cooked from the heart. She enjoyed dancing and was very good at it. She enjoyed having fun with her loving family. But her main love and source of strength was church and church work. She loved singing, marching, ushering and fellowshipping with her brothers and sisters in Christ. When she went to church, she was “dressed to the nines.” She was matching from head to toe and well known for her fabulous and beautiful hats and stylish high heels. She thoroughly enjoyed quartet music and Male Choirs. Some of her favorite songs were “I Won’t Complain,” and “I Can’t Even Walk Without You Holding My Hand.”
Caroline was predeceased by her loving parents, Rufus and Nettie; siblings, Rufus “Baby” Brock, Willie Brock, Thomas Cornick (Lula), and Alice Pauline “Ballie” Williams (Jeremiah).
Caroline is survived by three children, Dorothy D. Minnis, Alison C. Moore (Gerald), and David D. Clinton (Tymesha); six grandchildren, LoRena, Dontae, Jerell, Monique, Treshaun and Nevaeh; nine great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Indiana Bryant (Tony); one godbrother, Matthew “Punnie” Jordan; two sister-friends, Virginia Kingsberry and Arlene Terrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, family and friends.
We miss her now; our hearts are sore. As time goes by, we’ll miss her more. Her loving smile and gentle face, no one on earth can fill her place.
