Catherine Aline Gaines Kirkland, 93, peacefully transitioned and enter her heavenly home on Friday, May 1, 2026. Aline, as affectionately known by her family and friends, was born to the late Theodore and Eliza Gaines on October 23,1932 in Crawford, GA. Her family relocated to Cincinnati, OH at the early age of 2 alongside her older siblings, Lymon Gaines Sr. and Mable Gaines Johnson. She graduated from Stoe High School located in Cincinnati, OH. Aline worked as a nurse’s aide before obtaining her cosmetology license where she worked as a hairstylist for 50+ years.
Aline lived her life to the fullest, she was never seen without her lips lined with her favorite lipstick and a cup filled with her favorite drink aka her medicine, ready to engage in a good gossip session, she enjoyed going to bingo, attending family gatherings and lived for her daily western shows. She was loving, confident, straightforward, always leaving a piece of knowledge with anyone she crossed paths with.
Aline gave birth to her one and only daughter, Yvonne Gaines Favors in 1951 and later met and married James Kirkland, the love of her life. Aline leaves to cherish her memories with her beautiful daughter, Yvonne Favors (Raymond Favors); three grandchildren: Alisa Simmons (Charles Simmons) Mero and Waymond Favors; four great-grands and three great-great grandkids Cierra Vann (Zoe Daniels & Ashton Boyer), Mailk Simmons (Nature Simmons) Jemerrio Simmons, and Malachi Favors. Aline was blessed to witness five generations of her family line and had a special bond with each of her grands and greats, she instilled the importance of family, morals and being true to who you are. She will forever be loved by her brother Lymon Gaines Sr.; honorary great-niece Brijin (Gaines), Shelton and Goddaughter Carolyn Pearson alongside a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Aline was preceded in death by her husband, James Kirkland; parents, Theodore and Eliza Gaines; sister, Mable Gaines Johnson; grandson-in-love, Charles Simmons; along with a list of loved ones.
Services will be held out of town by Thompson Hall and Jordan Funeral Home in Forest Park, Ohio, 513-742-3600
