Charisse Johnson Obituary

John 14:1-3

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

Charisse Michelle Johnson, age 58  passed away on March 19, 2021 with her loving and dutiful mother, Kathleen Johnson by her side in Virginia Beach, VA.  She was born August 28, 1962 in Philadelphia, PA to Homer and Kathleen Johnson.

Charisse studied at Tidewater Community College early in life and then decided to settle into a lifelong career with Virginia Beach City Schools for over 25 years. Charisse was very social and eager to be her mother’s plus-one at any event after the passing of her father. Charisse was always a daddy’s little girl and is now eternally united with her father Homer Johnson who preceded her in death. She was understanding, firm, and a loving daughter, aunt, cousin, and sister who mastered the art of listening. Charisse is survived by two brothers, Sean and Michael, and one sister, Frances Johnson. She helped raise sibling/nephews and a niece, Rodney Barr, Homer Hebert, Tenisha Day. Her best friend, Karen Spencer and the Spencer family and the joy they brought her, were a significant part of her life . Additionally, Charisse is survived by her Aunt Alice Pretlow, Louise Smith, and uncles John D. Smith and Lawrence Smith, her niece Gabriella Bernhardt and nephew Sean Johnson Jr., and a host of great nieces and nephews as well as many cousins and friends. Charisse was reliable, relatable, and the keeper of all the best secrets if you were lucky enough to call her your friend. She had a great sense of humor, was well-liked, and respected. She loved to travel as well as work and would follow a crab anywhere. Charisse was easy to talk to, especially if you were a Dallas Cowboys fan or you were talking about a cruise or vacation.

Charisse is so loved and will be missed by many.
