Charles “Butch” Hines, 80, peacefully departed this life on March 22, 2026, with his beloved wife by his side. Born on March 3, 1946, in Princess Anne County, Butch was the son of the late Odessa Hines and Johnny Gordon.
He dedicated over 35 years of his life as a truck driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic and commitment. Butch found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers, had a deep love for cars, and could often be found joking around and bringing laughter to those nearby. He enjoyed singing gospel music and cherished every moment spent with his family. Known for his warm spirit, Butch always wore a smile that could brighten any room.
Even during difficult times, his strength and faith never wavered. As his brother, Larry Gordon, lovingly shared, “Out of everything he was going through, he didn’t complain and he kept the faith.”
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, as well as several beloved siblings, aunts, nephews, and other cherished relatives.
Butch leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 40 years Ann O. Hines; children, Columbus Albritton (Tamela), James Davenport (Leisa); grandchildren, Jamika, Jasmine, Juquan, Rashaun, Lava, Saniah, Stefon; great grandchildren, Kashamair, Kasyn, Kingston, Jream, Ziair; siblings, Jesse, Ester Mae, Dorothy, Edward “Cecil”, Gloria, Demetri, Larry, Lestselle; sisters in law, Gloria Welsch, Doris Snowden; brothers in law, John M.
