Charles Milton Williams

Charles Milton Williams affectionately called, “Charlie or Mr. Charles” by his friends and family was born March 18, 1939, in Wilson, North Carolina to the late Swanie Stephens-Williams and Thomas Williams. He was peacefully called home on September 26, 2024.

Charles received his formal education in Wilson County School System and later graduated from Speight High School. Charles also attended North Carolina Central University. He was employed by RCA Television, the United States Postal Service, and Newark Public Schools in New Jersey.

Charles enjoyed doing the New York Times crossword puzzles, word searches, and he enjoyed watching college and the NBA games. He had a deep passion for jazz music. Charles began playing the trumpet at the age of 15. Charles’ favorite jazz artists are Miles Davis and Cindy Bradley. Charles also participated with the Bowie State Community Jazz Group and the Ebenezer Symphony Orchestra in Maryland.

Charles was married to the late Lorraine Dancy Williams whom he loved dearly. Left to cherish his precious memories are two sisters, Camilla Jean Woodard of Wilson, North Carolina, and Willie Mae Williams of Wilson, North Carolina; two daughters, Charletta Williams of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Lynda Smith of Chesapeake, Virginia; two grandsons, Marcus D. Smith, Miles J. Smith and Kilo Smith (grand dog); along with a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
