Chester Lee Marks

Chester Lee Marks, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully earned his wings on July 17, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so fiercely.

Born on June 15, 1956, to the late Minnie Mae Marks in Dumas, Arkansas, Chester lived a vibrant 70 years full of laughter, deep convictions, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones. A beautifully unique soul, he was an adorable, funny, and wonderfully opinionated nerd who brought light and joy into every room he entered.

Chester proudly dedicated 16 years of his life to the United States Coast Guard. His military service took him to many corners of the world, though Alaska always held a special, frozen piece of his heart. Eventually, his journey led him to Portsmouth, Virginia, where he built a beautiful life and home with his soulmate and wife, Maxine. Together for 29 years and married for 13, Chester and Maxine shared a rare, profound bond. No matter what challenges life threw their way, Chester possessed the magical ability to make Maxine’s heart smile and bring calm to her most stressful moments.

His deep affection for his daughter, Brandy Marks, was immense and visible to everyone who knew him. That love only grew deeper and more radiant when Brandy blessed him with his cherished grandson, Kasaun Davis, who brought endless joy to his later years.

Beyond his family, Chester’s true happy place was tinkering with a computer motherboard, earning him the affectionate title of a genuine computer geek. He was also an active, dedicated member of the Tux Club, an avid golfer, and a compassionate volunteer who gave his time generously to support underprivileged children and the elderly.

Chester’s legacy of love, laughter, and service lives on through his wife, Maxine; his daughter, Brandy; and his grandson, Kasaun. He is also remembered by his three brothers, David Marks, Donald Marks, and Tony Marks; his three sisters, Freddie Addams, Bobbie Marks, and DeAngelis Marks; and a vast host of extended family, dear friends, and loved ones. He re-joins his brother, Leon Davis, who preceded him in death.
