Obituary for Corine Goins
It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Corine Goins, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her family and community.
Corine Goins was born in Saluda, Virginia, to her beloved parents, Venus Goins and Thomas Goins, both of whom preceded her in death. She later made her home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she built a life rooted in hard work, love, and dedication to her family.
She was the youngest of four siblings and was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia and Lee Ester. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sister, Aunt Cora.
Corine was a proud and devoted mother of nine children. She was preceded in death by Joanne, Sammy, Roosevelt, Funk, and Perk. She leaves behind her loving children Shirley, Pete, Gene, and Tony, who will continue to honor her legacy.
Corine dedicated 37 years of service at Fort Story in Virginia Beach, where she worked her way up to become Supervisor of Housekeeping before retiring. She was known for her strong work ethic, leadership, and the respect she earned from those who worked alongside her.
Corine was a strong woman with a bold, unforgettable personality. She spoke her mind, stood her ground, and carried herself with confidence and resilience. Her presence filled every room—she was loving, firm, and fiercely protective of her family. She had a way of making people feel cared for while also keeping everyone in line, a true matriarch in every sense.
Outside of her career, Corine found joy in raising animals on her farm, cooking for others, and spending time watching her favorite Westerns. She was known for her generous spirit and often said, “I don’t have a problem feeding anybody,” a reflection of her open heart and giving nature.
She leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish her love, guidance, and warm presence.
Corine Goins will be remembered as a woman of strength, compassion, and unwavering love. To many, she was more than a mother—she was truly the Best Mother Ever.
Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched and the family she so deeply loved.
