Dansby T. Gregory, 76, passed away peacefully in his home in Virginia Beach, Va on July 10, 2021.
Dansby attended and graduated high school at Union Kempsville in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1962. He later received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Norfolk State University. Upon graduation, he enlisted into the United States Navy where he served 4 years active duty and 16 years of Navy Reserve, retiring in 2006. After his time in active-duty service, he went on to teach business education at Bohemia Manor High School in Cecil County Maryland. Dansby was considered a “favorite” teacher because he used his undeniable wit and humor to connect with his students. He was highly regarded by his peers as he received numerous awards and accolades for his dedication to teaching. After 25 years, Dansby retired from teaching and moved back to his hometown of Virginia Beach. Dansby was not one to sit idle, so he began working with the Board of Elections where he assisted with monitoring the polls during every election cycle and assisted with getting citizens registered to vote. He also became actively involved in his Church home, Morning Star Baptist Church. Dansby thoroughly enjoyed being responsible for collecting, counting and depositing the weekly tithes and offering. He also met weekly with church members to do arts and crafts and explore different restaurants in the area.
Dansby was predeceased by his beloved parents, Edward and Catherine Gregory, His brother Percell Gregory and his sister Eula Gregory-Banks. He will be forever remembered by his brothers Freddy Gregory (Burnette); Bobby Gregory (Mary); Frankie Gregory and Phillip White (Brenna); Sister Catherine Muse (Kenny), Sister-in-Law Alferette Gregory, Brother-in-Law Leroy Banks, ,and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
