David Read Dzwonkoski, 72, passed away on May 1. He is survived by his devoted wife Dorothy Harland, his sister Judith Ahern (Vincent), as well as a large extended family, his many beloved friends and colleagues, and his adorable cat Kenzie. He was predeceased by his parents Felix and Frances Dzwonkoski, his brother Peter Dzwonkoski and his sister Diane Whiteway.
David was employed for thirty years at the Virginia Beach Public Library. He spent many years as a book dealer, and he also had an extended history of volunteer work, much of which was for the City of Virginia Beach Office of Volunteer Resources. He loved cooking, cartoons, music, reading and road trips. A graduate of Yale University, he never lost his appetite for learning, debate, and exploration of any topic. His sharp wit and dry sense of humor will be missed.
David preferred that a memorial service not be held, but donations to World Central Kitchen (www.wck.org) in his honor would be greatly appreciated.
