David "Dave" Palmer Obituary

David "Dave" Keith Palmer, 75, passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2025.  Dave was born in Syracuse, New York to the late Keith Palmer and Jane Palmer and preceded in death by his sister Janice Palmer.  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Palmer; son, Craig Palmer who is married to Krissy Palmer; grandchildren, Dakota and Boston Palmer; and his best feline friend, Callie.

Dave graduated from North Syracuse Central High School in 1968 before joining the United States Navy for 11 years.  He was stationed on the USS Canisteo, the USS Caloosahatchee, Naval Support Activity in Brooklyn, New York, Naval Station and Naval Hospital in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the USS Nimitz, and the Little Creek Naval Amphibious Base in Norfolk, VA.  After the Navy, Dave worked in a number of restaurants and pool halls before his retirement.

Dave was passionate about pool and billiards since a teenager, and was a frequent patron and former employee of Q-Master Billiards for decades.  He spent many countless hours working on his three-cushion billiards game, attending and watching videos of pool tournaments, and reading about its finer details.  He would talk and banter with other players about the finer points of the game.  He participated in multiple pool tournaments across the country in Phoenix AZ, Philadelphia PA and Flushing NY.  He was a fantastic cook, a trade he learned in the Navy and later utilized at home and being known for his macaroni and cheese.  He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed books about World War II.  Dave was also a fan of the Boston Bruins NHL team.  Dave was a lifetime learner, taking time to learn about the current topic at hand, whether it was pool, car maintenance, home electronics and all kinds of other things.  He spent many hours crafting models of WWII vehicles and scenery with fantastic realism.

He was a hard worker and planner in all that he did, setting a high bar for those around him.  His days in the Navy trained him to be prepared and have backups for everything, whether it be pantry items, tools, or other supplies. He dedicated significant time ensuring the home operated well and without problems.  His wife, Linda, always appreciated all the things he did for her to make the day to day easy.  His son, Craig, appreciated the work ethic his father taught and the wisdom and guidance he shared.

Dave will be missed by his friends and family.
