Deacon Edward Lee Knight, 80, affectionately known as “Baby Lee” transitioned from this life on April 20, 2021. He was born on August 18, 1940 in North Carolina to the late Raymond and Lucy Hall. He was the oldest of his siblings.
At an early age his family transitioned to Virginia where he received his formative education through the Virginia School System. Baby Lee had a passion and love for “Big Rig” trucks and was a retired truck driver. He was liked and known by fellow truck drivers as “Peacemaker”.
Deacon Knight’s love for the Lord inspired him to join Saint Stephen’s Church of God in Christ in the early 1970s located in Virginia Beach, Virginia under the leadership of the late Elder Thurlian Burden. He served there faithfully for years as an ordained Deacon, a member of the Trustee Board, Male Chorus, Usher, and a Church Bus Driver. Deacon Knight had a special love for his church and did everything in his power to ensure the beautification of the grounds and building, both inside and outside. He served faithfully until he was no longer able to do so.
Edward was predeceased by one son, Karl Knight.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Knight; two sons, Christopher Knight, Damiean Knight; one daughter, Carolyn Robinson (Alphonson),12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ruth Lewis, Rosa Williams (George), Gladys Johnson, Betty Anne Williams; two brothers, William Rodger Hall (Estell), Johnnie Hall; close friend, Will Hartfields and a host of other relatives and friends.
