Denise Johnson, 55, entered into eternal rest on July 17, 2021.

Denise was born on December 10, 1965, in Monticello, NY to Donald & Mary Hooks. She was educated in the Orange County public school system and after graduation, she attended Orange County Community College. Denise was a childcare provider for over 20 years and her love for children left an everlasting impression on their lives. She loved reading, dancing, writing poetry, drawing and arts & crafts.

Denise was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Claude & Cora Ivory and paternal grandparents, DeWitt & Lucy Hooks.

Denise leaves to cherish her fond memories, her husband, Alex Johnson; children, Alexandria & Syerra Johnson, all of Virginia Beach, VA; parents, Mary Lee Riascos of Virginia Beach, VA, Donald Edward Hooks (Jill) of Liberty, NY; siblings, Gwendolyn Obe (Malcolm) of Virginia Beach, VA, Phyllis White (Tyrone) of Monticello, NY, Michael Hooks (Joni) of Pasadena, MD; Sabrina Hooks of Woodridge, NY, Henry Hooks of Woodbridge, VA, Brenden Hooks (Tasha) of Edison, NJ; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Denise was a gift from heaven. She always said, “I was not meant to be in this world.” She had unconditional compassion and love for all those who crossed her path. “Queen” as they called her not only touched the young, but anyone who encountered her warm smile and kind words. God sent her into our lives for a reason and whoever had the pleasure of knowing her, good or bad; has truly been touched.
