Dorothy May Hoggard Clark, 80, was called to eternal rest after an extended illness at her home in Virginia Beach, VA. She was born on September 10, 1941 in Princess Anne County, Virginia. Dorothy was educated in the Virginia Beach Public School System. She was employed with Virginia Beach City Public Schools for twenty-five years. Dorothy had a special love working with the children at the schools. The children called her “grandma.” She received a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of her many years of service and dedication to the Virginia Beach City Public Schools and the youth it serves. Dorothy was married to the late Irving Clark, Sr.
Dorothy is the daughter of the late Alfred R. Hoggard and the late Mable Hoggard. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Irving (Clarkie) Clark, Jr., three brothers, Robert (Bob) Hoggard, Joseph (Joe) Hoggard, and Eddie Hoggard.
She is survived by her son, Barry Clark (Tonya) of Dallas, GA, daughter, Crystal Jackson (Greg) of Ocoee, FL, two brothers, Albert (Booney) Hoggard of Virginia Beach, VA, Clifton (Gene) Hoggard of Virginia Beach, VA, sister, Mable Whitehurst of Virginia Beach, VA, three sister-in-laws, Lillian Hoggard, Mamie Hoggard, and Lillie Hoggard, all of Virginia Beach, VA.
Dorothy adored her grandchildren, Shatonyell (Tameka) Davis of Hampton, GA, Dana Lynn Whitehurst of Orange Park, FL, Baira (Carrin) Crenshaw of Dallas, TX, Kirsten Zanoni of Orlando, FL, and Christian (Sean) Herelle of Orlando, FL.
She was blessed to have twelve great grandchildren, Rick, Brenden, Frea’drika (Ty), Fred, Dejoure (Buddy), Daija, Clinton, Clinique, Christian, Isaiah, Karrington, Micah, three great-great grandchildren, Rick, Jr., Zeus, Pharaoh, and a host of relatives and friends.
