Douglas Pearson was born on October 8, 1959 to Della Davis Pearson and Rutledge Pearson in Brooklyn, NY. He was affectionately raised by Mildred Pearson, becoming the 12th blessing added to a family of 14 siblings.
Douglas was educated in the New York public school system and graduated from the Eli Whitney VHS. He furthered his education at New York Tech College and received his certification as a Heating Plant Technician. After graduation, Douglas enlisted in the US Navy, serving from 1981 – 1987. He was honorably discharged and went on to work for the New York City Housing Authority.
Douglas married his soul mate, whom he met in high school, Eleanor Griffin. They were united in marriage on January 8, 1983 and from their union they were blessed with two daughters, Trinece and Trinitee. The family later relocated to Virginia in 1993, where Douglas was employed by the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. This was his last place of employment before he became ill.
Douglas was known for his infectious smile, loving spirit, and legendary cooking. He loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for his family and friends. Douglas was a loving husband and doting father, known for being a “Girl Dad”, because he spoiled his girls. He worked hard to provide for them while instilling the importance of family and living life to the fullest.
Doug had a passion for entertainment, which resulted in his two biggest dreams, Big City Gospel and Pearson Fellowship Café “PFC”. He was a man of great faith who was a faithful member of Calvary Revival Church, Norfolk, VA. He participated in the Pastoral Meal Team, CRC’s Horn-O-Plenty Ministry and served as a care group leader.
Douglas was predeceased by his parents, Della Davis Pearson, Mildred Pearson, Rutledge Pearson; siblings, Leonard Pearson, Ronald Nelson, Garland Nelson, Gerard Nelson, Bruce Williams, Norma Pearson, and Frankie Pearson.
Doug leaves to mourn his Queen of 38 years, Eleanor Pearson; daughters, Trinece L. Purdie (Shamar), Trinitee A. Pearson; grandchildren, Saniaa R. & Torren D. Purdie; sisters, Diane Banks (Greg), Julie Foster, Michelle Connor (Donald), Rudine Jones; brothers, Kevin Pearson (Marion), Elliot Pearson; stepmother, Lorraine Pearson; sisters-in-love, Gayle Dames, Cassandra Outlaw, Tracey Griffin-Leach (Scott), Jacqueline Griffin, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
