Edith Rendella Meade was born on October 20th 1936, in Richmond, Virginia to Oliver Meade and Emily Harvey Meade. She was one of three children. Her siblings; Gloria and Thomas proceeded her in death. Due to a childhood illness, Edith lost her hearing and audible speech but gained strength in other areas. She was always outgoing and loved a challenge. Very independent and determined individual. She held multiple jobs and retired from the federal government. As a matured adult, she joined Sixth Mount Zion Church and was an active member for several years. As part of the deaf community, she embraced her unique perspective on life and encouraged everyone she met to learn American Sign Language.
She leaves behind her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many other family and friends to share stories and laughter. Recognition goes to Tia Anderson, Chandra Lamb and Latonia Brickhouse for always being there for mom. We cannot thank you enough.
Special thanks extended to the medical staff at Sentara Leigh Hospital and Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. Also to the pastor, administrators and members of SMZBC.
Earth has no sorry that Heaven cannot heal.
