Elijah Smith went from labor to rest on August 3, 2025. He leaves his wife of 31 years, Yvette Smith, to cherish his memory.
After serving in the Army and National Guard Reserves, Elijah worked for the City of Virginia Beach for over 30years where he retired as the Assistant Superintendent. He was also the proud owner of Eli Landscaping until his passing. He was always a man that loved to work!
He is also survived by his 9 children: Victoria Green, Jesse Smith (Shantae), Tia Smith, Tavoris Smith (Naomi), D'Angelo Fletcher (Rachel), Elijah Miller, Elichawa Miller, Sarakesia Miller, and Anginita Privott. His in-laws: James Fletcher (father), Donnell Fletcher (brother), James Fletcher (brother), Sherry Dixon (sister), Angela Privott (sister), and Cantrice Marrow (sister). His siblings: Al Smith (Marie), Thomas "T" Smith, Sara Bennett, Sandra Phillip, and Chris Evans. He was predeceased by his mother Carrie Evans, his father Albert Joe, his brother William C Smith, one grandchild and one great grandchild.
He also leaves 44 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. His God children: Sharon Fletcher, Crystal Smith, Tameika Holloman, Lamar Holloman, Sr.
He was also a faithful and dedicated servant of the Lord as he served as Chairman Deacon at Greater Cathedral under Pastor Tony Lewis.
A funeral service will be held on August 11, 2025 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Virginia Beach at 12pm.
