Evelyn Delores Holloway, 82, entered into eternal rest on June 6, 2022. Evelyn was born on October 7, 1939 in Princess Anne County, VA to the late Lillie Mae Spivey and Ernest Leroy Wiggins.
She was educated in the Princess Anne County public school system and attended Union Kempsville High School. Evelyn was a faithful member of New Jerusalem COGIC, Virginia Beach, VA for over 50 years under the leadership of the late Bishop Barnett K. Thoroughgood. She truly loved her pastor and church family. Evelyn loved to labor and even purchased the bricks for the first church renovation.
Mother Evelyn was not only a church mother, throughout the years she served as a church nurse, member of the senior choir, and an usher. Some called her “The Freeze Cup Lady” because she loved making freeze cups for the children in the neighborhood. Some of Evelyn’s favorite things to do was cooking and spending time with her family.
Besides her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her dear husband who passed away in 1995, John Richard Holloway, Jr.
Evelyn leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Delphine Holloway, Lillie Ingram (Corey Revis), Katrina Holloman (John), LaThresa Holloway-Massard; grandchildren, Lavon “TJ” Holloway, Velencia Smith (George), Antonio Holloway, Mishay Holloway, Malachi Holloman; sister, Ernestine Billups (Lee); adopted daughter, Martinee Torres; best friend, Katie Riley; six great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
