Gary L. Bennett, Sr.

Gary Lee Bennett, Sr. 78, passed away October 20, 2023. He was born March 8, 1945, to the late Margaret Elwick and Robert Bennett in Norfolk, Virginia.

Gary was educated in the Norfolk Public School system and graduated from Maury High School. He was in the Army Reserves and retired as an Engineer Assistant at Verizon with 30+ years of service. Gary was a part of many organizations which included, The Backyard Gardeners (founding member), The Pioneers, CWA President of Retired Members Local 2201. In addition to his memberships, he enjoyed bowling, gardening and was a member of Atlantic Shores Baptist Church where he was a Life Group Leader.

Gary is predeceased by his parents, Robert Bennett and Margaret Elwick; and brother, Robert Alonzo Bennett.

Gary leaves to cherish his life and legacy his wife, Patty Bennett; son, Gary Bennett, Jr.; grandchildren, Tyler Bennett; great grandchildren, Brayden Bennett and Kaylee Jayne Bennett.
