At his home in Virginia Beach, surrounded by the presence of his family, George Henry Johnson, Jr., 62, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. He was born in New York but raised in Maiden, North Carolina to the late George & Connie Johnson on January 16, 1963.
George proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and Marine Corps. Throughout his distinguished military career, he was the recipient of numerous awards and commendations, including six Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Navy “E” Ribbon (with three awards), the Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewman designation.
George was predeceased by his parents, George Johnson Sr. & Connie G Johnson; brother, Darrel Keith Johnson; father-in-law, Howard Dixon, Sr.; uncle, Purnell Cunningham and grandparents, Bishop & Annie Cunningham.
George leaves to continue his legacy his beautiful wife of 40 Years, Yvonette G. Johnson; children; Erica & Khadijah Johnson; grandchildren, Erion Johnson, Darionna Jones, & Ariona Johnson; siblings, Cynthia Forney, Andrea Nicole Johnson; aunts Mayola Cunningham, Gracy Phillps: uncles Bobby Cunningham & Connell Cunningham; special friends Tony T, Reggie, Will, Bell, Jocko, Kenny, Polo, Mackie, Sammy, Rodney, Kevin, Rick,The Beach Wood Homeboys; and a host of other relatives and friends that love him dearly.
