Harvey J. Sanders Jr.

Harvey J. Sanders, Jr., 74, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 27, 2020.

He was born on June 8, 1945 to the late Harvey Sr. & Bessie Sanders in Wake County, NC. Although he was born in NC, Harvey was raised in Norfolk, VA. He worked as a Welder, Pipefitter and had many other trades at the Newport News Shipyard for 36 years. Harvey was a loyal member of St. John AME Church, Norfolk, VA. He was a Sunday School Teacher for the Branches of the Vine class, a member of the Men’s Usher Board and he served as a Church Steward.

Harvey enjoyed building computers, grilling outside and spending time with his great granddaughter, Narley Marie. He took pride in studying the Bible to continue strengthening his ongoing relationship with Christ.

Besides his parents, Harvey was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Mae F. Sanders, two sisters, Shirley Sanders, Linda Williams; two brothers, Gary Sanders and Bobby Sanders.

Harvey leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Sharon R. Sanders, Lisa A. Sanders; grandchildren, Tanisha Drake, Tiara Sanders; great granddaughter, Narley Artis; siblings, Patricia Wilson (Sherman), Rickie Sanders (Sandra) and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
