Ida Geneva Conley Sanderson, 78, passed away on July 1, 2021. She was born on February 14, 1943, to the late William Sutton and Mary Conley.
Ida was educated in the Princess Anne County public school system. As a young girl, Ida accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Later on, Ida moved her membership to New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Barnett K. Thoroughgood. Ida served on the Mother’s Board and the Nursing Board which she was passionately faithful to and loved.
Ida loved working and always had a smile on her face. She worked at various hotels and motels. She was employed by the Virginia Beach Public School System as a Custodian for 15 years before retiring.
One of Ida’s favorite pastimes was crabbing at Rudee Inlet. She loved working on word search puzzles and playing skeet ball. One of her favorite television shows was the Wheel of Fortune.
Besides her parents, Ida was predeceased by her brother, Connell Sutter and a sister, Rosie Sutton.
Left to cherish Ida’s memories is the love of her life, her husband of 45 years, Alduster Sanderson; two children, James Conley of Virginia Beach, VA, Wydell Conley (Tonia) of Townsend, DE; sister, Shirley Hayes of Virginia Beach, VA; five grandchildren, Khaliyah Harris, Nikki Truitt, Hillari Dickerson, Aryelle Conley, Taritha Sawyer; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
