Joann Humphries, 80, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, peacefully passed away on April 26, 2026. She was born on January 22, 1946, in Princess Anne County, now known as Virginia Beach, to the late Nicodemus Dozier and Mollie E. Dozier, and remained a lifelong resident of the community she loved.
Joann retired from the City of Virginia Beach after many dedicated years as a custodian. She was a faithful member of First Lynnhaven Baptist Church, where she served as an usher.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sibling, cousin, aunt, and friend, whose warmth and presence touched many. Joann enjoyed playing softball, listening to music, shopping, talking on the phone, and enjoying nice dinners. She loved the Lord and kept her faith at the center of her life.
Joann was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Humphries; parents, Mollie and Nicodemus Dozier; siblings, Arthur Dozier (Stella), Nicodemus Dozier, Jr., Robert Dozier, Gloria J. Dozier, Margaret Davis (Joe), Fannie Peterson and Jannie Smith.
Joann leaves to cherish her memories her children, Cynthia Ann Olds, Raymond U. Steverson, Ron C. Steverson; grandchildren, Britney Creekmore, Antonio Dejesus, Derrick Dejesus, Latoia M. Gregory, William Dozier, Tekira Dozier, Quinethia Olds, Joseph Olds; great grandchildren, Jamia Dozier, Amari Dozier, Aaliyah C. Dozier, William Dozier, Elisha C. Rodgers, Jaydis E. Gregory siblings, Sandra Stephenson-Cooper (Lawrence) of Chesapeake, Judith Ferebee (Roy) of South Carolina, Eva Dozier, Sherman Dozier (Faye) of FL, Therman Dozier (Catherine), Walter Dozier (Regina), Ronnie Dozier, Sr. (Virginia), John Dozier, William Dozier; brother-in-law, Don Petterson; sister-in-law, Ellie Dozier; and a host of other relatives and friends.
