John Donald Holland, son of the late Donald and Elizabeth Holland, was born in Frederick, Maryland on October 27, 1937. John was peacefully summoned home by God’s Angels on January 26, 2022.
John was educated in the Frederick, Maryland Public School System and graduated from Frederick High School.
Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Soon after enlisting, he married the love of his life, Onnie Virginia Kelly. For the 63 years they were married, he called her his Bride. From this union, they were blessed with six children, Cedric, Patricia, Michael, Donna, Keith, and Kelly.
After 21 years, he retired from the U.S. Navy. Following his career in the military, he was employed with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 15 years.
John was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Orioles, and Philadelphia 76ers.
He also enjoyed some great music. He loved and listened to all genres. Some of his favorite musicians were the Commodores, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the Rolling Stones, just to name a few.
John leaves to cherish in his memory, his wife Onnie Virginia Holland; children, Cedric Holland, Patricia Cooper (Roscoe), Donna Egerson (Troy), Keith Holland (Rowena), and Kelly Holland; nine grandchildren, Leticia Hopkins (Dion), Shayla Cooper, Malcolm Egerson, Terrica Chujor (Joseph), Jordan Holland, Lalah Egerson, Jada Holland, Nicole Cooper (George), Carl Cooper (Sicily); nine great-grandchildren; brother Arthur Holland (Betty); sister Diane King (Delbert) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Holland; parents Donald and Elizabeth Holland, brothers Robert and Howard Holland.
