Johna Y. Strother

Johna Yvette Strother, age 64, of Norfolk, Virginia passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2026, at Sentara Leigh Hospital.

Johna was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Mae Cofield and father, Johnny Lofitis. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School system. She resided in Norfolk, Virginia for 40 years, and built a successful career at the Virginia Pilot newspaper. Later on she went on to work for Virginia Beach Public Schools.

Johna was a beautiful woman with an outgoing personality. She would give the shirt off her back to even to a stranger. She loved entertaining, laughing, cooking, and watching "In the Heat of the Night" on television. Johna could also be found dancing, and having a good time. She loved deeply and her presence brought great strength, joy, and laughter to her friends and family. Her memory will live forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Johna “Yvette” is survived by her spouse Terry Strother, her children Shamica, Asha, Ericka, Terry “TJ”, Tanesha. Also, survived by 6 grandchildren; Ajanae, Nyaina, Aniyah, Caliyah, Korrheem, and Korrhi. Her beloved siblings Diana (Robert), Linda (Roy), and Ronald. Special Nieces Pamela and Banita Cofield. Special friend Roslyn “her Andy”.
