Johnny Lee Evans, Sr.

Johnny Lee Evans, Sr., 78, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. He was born March 15, 1948, to the late Royal S. Evans, Sr. and Mary Estelle Cooper Evans in Va Beach, VA. He was the second son of ten children.

He was predeceased by his oldest daughter, Kimberly L. Evans Barrett and three siblings, Betty Evans White, Royal S. Evans, Jr, and Douglas O. Evans “Chief”.

Johnny was educated in the Virginia Beach Public School system and was a 1966 graduate of Union Kempsville High School. He later attended Hampton Institute for a short time.

He married Shirley Anne Wilson, and from that union three children were born, a set of twin boys, Johnny Jr., Michael, and a daughter, Kimberly. He later married Patricia Fuller. Johnny had two additional daughters, Tanya and Shannon.

Johnny retired from the Naval Aviation Depot Branch of the Department of Defense, Norfolk, VA after their closure in the late 1990’s. Johnny always strived for excellence in everything that he did.

He leaves to cherish his memories his four children, Johnny L. Evans, Jr., Michael W. Evans (Michelle), Tanya Barnes West (Clarence Jr.), Shannon Johnson; son-in-law, Prince Barrett; six grandchildren, Keyera Barrett, Teila Evans, Alicia Soule, Caelyn West, Taylor Barnes (Dontrail), Clarence West, III (Ayana), Jamie Evans;  three great grandsons, Cairo Barnes, Damien Barnes, Dokota Barnes; five sisters, Delores Fitzgerald, Linda Richards, Toni Holloman, Pastor Sharon Tate, Janice McFadden; one brother, Christopher Evans; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
