Johnny Elliott McNeil, beloved brother and friend, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024, at the age of 64. He was surrounded by his family and friends.
Born on September 1, 1959, in Dillon, South Carolina, Johnny was the eldest of five children. From a young age, he demonstrated a passion for learning and had an unwavering curiosity about the world.
Johnny attended grade school and his secondary education in Dillon, SC. After graduating from Layette High School in Brooklyn, New York, Johnny enlisted in the United States Navy. His Navy career allowed him to tour Europe and other countries. Johnny decided to live in England for many years before returning to the United States to make Virginia Beach, Virginia his home.
Johnny later founded and established Tiger Bay, LLC business, where he played a pivotal role in its growth and success. Johnny’s leadership was marked by integrity, compassion and a relentless drive for excellence.
Outside of his professional life, Johnny enjoyed chess, golf, and meeting new people.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Avery McNeil; mother, Hattie Mae Crawford McNeil; grandmothers, Lillie Mae Inman (Dillon, SC), Hattie Ruth Bethea Crawford (Dillon, SC); grandfather, Willie Joe Crawford (Dillion, SC); aunts, Cleola Moody (Dillon, SC) and Annie Deloris Crawford White (Brooklyn, NY).
Johnny leaves to cherish and celebrate his life and wonderful memories, his siblings, Denise L, McNeil (Virginia Beach, VA), Raynard McNeil (Virginia Beach, VA), Shirrell McNeil Williams (Gregory) (Greensboro, NC), Tonny McNeil (Dillon, SC); nieces & nephews, She’ Neka Williams, (Nashville, TN), Gregory Williams (Charlotte, NC), Myah McNeil (Columbia, SC), Averi McNeil (Dillon, SC); aunt, Catherine Fields (Crawford) (Dillon, SC); plus a host of cousins, friends and other relatives; special friend Martha Campbell (Virginia Beach, VA).
