Life Reflections
Joyce Frances Goodman, age 83, peacefully entered eternal rest on January 8, 2026, at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was born on February 6, 1942, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Clifton and Lottie Smith, and was a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Joyce was educated in the Portsmouth Public School System and attended I.C. Norcom High School. She dedicated over 25 years of service as a food service worker with the Virginia Beach Public School System before retiring.
Joyce was known for her joyful spirit and infectious laughter. She loved going to the casino, traveling, doing word searches, and shopping. Above all, she cherished her family and truly enjoyed bringing everyone together. Family gatherings meant everything to her. She was also a devoted fan of the Washington Commanders football team.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Leon Goodman, Jr.; daughter, Wanda Renea Correa; parents, Clifton and Lottie Smith and brother, Clifton Smith, Jr.
Joyce leaves to cherish and continue her legacy her loving children, Craig L. Goodman (Elsie “Nisey), Kurt V. Goodman, Sr. (Linda), Lamont Goodman; grandchildren, Kiara A. Goodman, Juan M. Correa (Shawnta), Kurt V. Goodman, Jr., Ciara D. Goodman; great grandchildren, JaMari Turner, Maliyah Harroitt, Jailyn & Nyla Richards; siblings, Charolette Jones, Sandra Lathan, Marilyn Hopkins; sister-in-law, Earline Smith; son-in-law, Juan M. Correa; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
