Kelvin Harold Obituary

Kelvin Harold suddenly passed away on Monday April 24, 2023, in Norfolk, VA at the age of 64. He was born on November 25, 1958, in Virginia Beach, VA. He is predeceased by his parents John & Eva Powell. He was the brother of 8 siblings Curtis Harold (Predeceased), Vernetta (Arthur) Bailey, Thaddeus Harold, Donald (Elaine) Harold, Helen (Ronald) Darrata, Lester (Patricia) Powell, Gardner Powell, Lisa Powell, Denise Powell, and Hope Powell. He attended Bayside Highschool in Virginia Beach VA. Kelvin spent most of his life in the Burton Station area of Virginia Beach and Poplar Halls area of Norfolk.

Kelvin met his wife-to-be and mother of his children, Michelle in 1978. There shouldn’t be a surprise that he was driving a dump truck the day they met. They had 3 children Tyrone Harrison, Litrice Harrison, and Jasmine (Marchello) Fields. They later got married in 1986. Kelvin was also blessed with four grandchildren Trineice Coleman, Marshae White, Beyonka White, and Camden Fields. All four of them brought him great joy and happiness. So much so, he threatened to take the parents to court for visitation if they took too long to let him visit. Their youthful energy and innocence never failed to put a smile on Kelvin's face.

Kelvin worked as a Diesel Mechanic and Commercial Truck Driver for over 40 years. In addition to being the “King of Trucking”, he mastered skills in home repair. Kelvin was one of the smartest people you will ever meet. This man was able to take any kind of engine (in his words “A Motor”) apart and put it back together in his sleep if he wanted to. So many were amazed by his skills and knowledge of a variety of things. Some may even call him “Superman” as there were plenty of times where he saved the day for many of the people in this room.

He had a passion for life and loved nothing more than spending time with his family. When he wasn't enjoying their company, he could often be found helping someone or simply laying around under an engine. He took extreme joy in contributing to the trucking industry by helping keep trucks on the road. Kelvin's impact on the community cannot be overstated. His tireless efforts and unwavering commitment made him a legend in his community and beyond.

He dedicated his life to improving the lives of those around him, and his legacy will live on through everyone he touched. Kevin was a man who knew everybody, no matter where you would take him. All who knew him, knew he was a very passionate man. Kelvin was a real country boy and was really in touch with nature. He took special interest in a variety of non-traditional foods such as Bear, Raccoon, Rabbit, Possum and Deer. There was no surprise to come to his house and wonder what that strange smell was coming from the kitchen. He surprised many when he cooked some of the most amazing traditional soul food dishes. He would always give full disclosure on what was in the dish. Overall, his favorite food was a hot piece of fish straight out of the grease. Kelvin had an abundance of friends and family whom he loved dearly, that explains why he couldn’t remember their names to save his life. Over the years we grew accustomed to having our names remixed with another friend or family member. That was just Kelvin. Many will remember Kelvin for his outlandish sense of humor and his ability to take any and everything very serious. Whether some liked it or not, he was guaranteed to be the life of the party and create a memorable moment.

In closing, we will miss Kelvin's silly sense of humor and his impressive appetite, but we take comfort in knowing he has gone on to a better place, where laughs are always genuine, and the food is always plentiful. Kelvin was a good friend to everyone he met, and his infectious personality will be sorely missed by all who knew him. His absence leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him, but his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all those who knew him. He will be missed, but his legacy of joy and love will continue to inspire those around him.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
