On May 11, 2023 @9:47 a.m. at the age of 75, the angels returned once again to reclaim one of their own Leander Williams, Jr. aka “Lil Buddy”.
Leander Williams, Jr. “Lil Buddy” was born to the late Leander Williams, Sr., and Lillian Johns Williams on February 22, 1948. “Lil Buddy” was a product of Union Kempsville High School the Class of 1965.
“Lil Buddy” is preceded in death by his parents Leander and Lillian Williams and oldest grandson/son Devon Williams. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Virginia Beach and a Past Worshipful Master of Unity-Lodge No. 93.
“Lil Buddy” was the first maintenance man for the William Village Community where he worked for over 25 years. He worked for Virginia Beach City Public Schools and later retired after 10 years. “Lil Buddy” loved watching his favorite TV shows such as wrestling, westerns and Sanford and sons. He was a Dallas Cowboy fan only when they were winning. On Sunday mornings, he would listen to his favorite gospel group, “The Gospel Keynotes”, “Jesus You’ve Been Good to Me” being his favorite song.
“Lil Buddy” leaves behind to honor his loving memories are his wife and caregiver, Betty Williams; children, Darnett Flournoy (Lil Tommie); Leander “Lee Lee” Williams III (Rosa); siblings, Audrey Corprew, Raydel Britt, Thomasine McGruder, Marilyn Williams, Rickey Williams, and Maurice Williams (Sherri); seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter, Lillyanna (his sunshine); four sisters-in-law; one brother-in law; one uncle, Simuel Johns; two special cousins, Curlee Overton “Bruh”, and Darnell Johns; and his stick man, James “Mac” Wood, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
“Lil Buddy,” you will be truly missed…. we loved you, but God loved you best
