Obituary
Leon Mitchell Henry Roberts, 82 years, entered into eternal rest on December 8, 2025.
He was born on January 2, 1943 in Keywest, Florida to the late Leon Henry Roberts and Victoria King Roberts. He was educated in the Florida public school system and graduated from Frederick Douglas High School. He grew up around other family members who where in Funeral Services, which influenced his decision to become a Mortician. So, after graduation, Leon moved to New York to complete an Associate’s degree in Funeral Services from Mortuary College in Groton, Connecticut. While in New York he also met his first wife, Joan Blair Roberts, and from their union they had four children. Later on he married Doris Evans Roberts and they moved to Virginia.
Leon devoted many years of service as a mortician at Graves Funeral Home before his retirement. He was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia, and is proudly Past Master of the Free and Accepted Prince Hall Masonay.
Besides his parents, Leon was predeceased by his wife, Doris Roberts; sister-cousin, Oretha Sweeten; aunts, Florene Welch and Vina Saunders.
Leon leaves to cherish his fond memories, four children, Mildred Trumphet (Craig), Bretnea Roberts (Natalia Barrette), Deidre Roberts (Robert Taylor), Leon Roberts; seven grandchildren, Shante Trumpet, Chanel Roberts, Michael Trumpet, Jamelle Singletary, Blair Steeley, Leon M. Roberts, Jaquis Roberts; eight great grandchildren, Myihka Trumpet, Jaylen Singletary (Natasha Irby), Madreem Williams, Xavier Cobbs, Akeem Boone, Leon Roberts Jr., Londyn Pettway, Jade Singletary (Janay Cole), Brooklyn Pettway, Malachi Roberts Alisha Washington, Andre Washington, Bryanna Bright, Kayla; aunt Jeannie Rakestraw; godson, Kurt Woods; special friends, Hortense Clary, Frances Anthony, Renee Sears, Pastor Byron Joyce; and a host of other relatives and friends.
