Madeline Wilson Morris

Madeline Wilson Morris was born to the late Eddie and Louise Weston-Wilson on January 21, 1928 in Princess Anne County, Virginia Beach.
She went to Pleasant Ridge Elementary and attended Booker T. Washington High School.

As a young adult, Madeline made the decision to follow Christ and live a life that was pleasing to Him. She joined and was baptized on December 10th, 1957 at Campbell's Chapel AME Church located in Virginia Beach, VA. It was there where she served faithfully as the church's secretary and treasurer for over 60 years well into her 80s.
Madeline Wilson Morris was a trailblazer in her own way, carving out a path for herself during a time when opportunities for African-American women were limited. She lived and worked in New York City, mastering the craft of bookbinding a rare and skilled profession, especially for African Americans at the time. Madeline also worked as housekeeper for many years and owned one of the first computers.

Years later, Madeline returned to her hometown in Virginia, where she met and married her husband, Isaiah Morris, Jr., building a life grounded in love, resilience, and hard work. The couple basked in their marital bliss for over 60 years.
They added to their union, three adopted children: Minnie Snowden, George Delaney and William Lloyd. The couple opened "Morris and Son Grocery Storo" in the 1950s and they lived above the store for years. This was a cornerstone in the Indian River Community. They later moved to 2888 Indian River Road which became the foundation of the Morris Family and hosted their Annual Morris-Holley Family Reunions for decades bringing families together generations after generations. On the back of their property on Morris Lane, black community leagues played baseball.

Madeline was a woman whose life was defined by love-especially for her family-and the comforting aroma of a  home-cooked meal.
Madeline lived a life that inspired others through her unwavering faith and devotion to God.

A devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, she had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and deeply cared for. She taught those around her the value of kindness, patience, and generosity-not through words, but through daily example portrayed by the life she lived.
On May 19th, 2025, God called Madeline Wilson Morris home to be with Him. Left to cherish beautiful memories and continue the legacy she built is her adopted daughter: Minnie Snowden; two adopted sons:
George Delaney and William Lloyd (daughter-in-law Mia Lloyd); one granddaughter: Dr. Kenya Snowden; two grandsons: Pernell Snowden and Rickey Snowden; two great-grandchildren: Prince Pernell Snowden and Sarai Angelice Snowden-Camejo; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Madeline always carried the memories of her husband, Isaiah Morris, Jr., parents, Eddie and Louise Weston- Wilson, and her brother, Russel Wilson, Jr., that all preceded her in death yet she reunited with in Heaven.
