Marion Goffigan Obituary

Marion Inez Goffigan passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2020 in Virginia Beach, VA at the age of 84.  Marion was born in Franklin, Virginia to the late James and Eleanor Harrison on July 12, 1936.  She grew up in and attended Norfolk public schools and later moved to Princess Anne County where she was joined in holy matrimony to her husband Earl Melvin Goffigan.  In her earlier years, Marion worked as a day worker; however, her love and compassion, comfort and care for her family and others compelled her to attend night school for nursing.  She became a licensed practitioner nurse (LPN) and worked in several nursing homes in the Virginia Beach area.  She retired as a private duty nurse, but her love and care for others was shown throughout her close knitted community.  As a wife, mom, daughter, grandmother, sister and aunt, Marion was always there for those she loved. She was  fondly called “Peach” by her grandchildren, “Lil Sista” by her siblings, and “Aunt Lil Sista” by her nieces and nephews.  Her love for her grand-, great-, and great great-grandchildren, was displayed in her smile, kisses and hugs.  Marion loved the Lord and it was displayed throughout her life.  She was a member of First Lynnhaven Baptist Church where she served as an Usher until her illness. Her love, laughter, and her wit will be missed.

Marion was predeceased by her husband Earl Melvin Goffigan, her two sons, Melvin Anthony and Randy Lee Goffigan; three sisters, Bertha Paige, Joyce Armstrong and Eleanor Jones; and one brother; Henry Harrison.  She is survived by her four children, Rita Ware, Larry L. Goffigan, Sr. (Melinda), Walter E. Goffigan (Julie) and Christopher Goffigan; four brothers; Clarence Harrison (Carolyn) Marvin Harrison (Cynthia); Stanley Harrison and Clifton Harrison (Elenoria); 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. The memories of Marion are priceless and forever enduring.  Her life was an inspiration to her children, grandchildren, siblings, daughter-in-laws, nieces, nephews and to be quite honest to anyone who knew her.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
