Mary Louise Moore, lovingly known as “Punkin,” passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025, at the age of 69. She was the daughter of the late Lucy Mae Lane and Willie Jones.
Punkin’s faith was her foundation. She was known for her steady spirit, caring heart, and her favorite phrase: “I know a Man”—words that reflected her deep trust in God. Throughout her life, she met every challenge with quiet strength and grace.
She was once married to the late Dorsey Moore Sr., with whom she shared part of her journey and raised three loving children: Kay “Niki” Ashby, Shannon Lane, and Adrein Lane. She also embraced Dorsey Moore Jr. and Tracey Corprew as her own. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Sherman Lane, and her son-in-law Harold Ashby Jr.
Punkin is survived by her devoted children; her sisters, Kimberly Lane and Phyllis Olds; her beloved niece Yolonda Lane, whom she raised and loved as a daughter; and her longtime companion of 21 years, John Dozier. She leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
In her final months, Niki, Shannon, and Adrein were constant sources of care and comfort—offering their time, strength, and love through every step of her journey. Their devotion was a reflection of the love she poured into all their lives.
