Mildred Simmons was born September 26, 1935 in Plymouth, NC. She was the daughter of David and Thelma Simmons. She entered her eternal rest on May 7, 2026.
Mildred graduated from Washington County Union High School in Roper, NC. She retired from Virginia Beach Public School as a custodian after 20 years. Mildred loved to cook, dance and be with her family. Whenever there was music, she was sure to be dancing. She was known to be the life of the and she loved to make people laugh. Mildred was hard working with a strong, bossy spirit. Mildred will be remembered for her stern voice of correction.
Mildred was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Simmons, Elizabeth Ottrae Simmons, Eresane Sicyens; three brothers, James Henry Simmons, David Simmons, and Clarence Edward Simmons.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two brothers, Jasper "Boo Boo" Simmons, Willie Lee Spruill; two daughters, Shellette Hines (Troy), Teresa Simmons; three sons, Ronald "Ronnie" Simmons, David Simmons, and Phillip Simmons (Maleeka); seven grandchildren, Toby Williams, Ronnie Williams, Laurenceau Simmons, Jermel Williams, Jeraud Simmons, Angel Simmons, and Jahvoni Simmons; along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly. Mildred will be missed.
