Minerva Joy Lucero, 48, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away in the comfort of her home on November 10th, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of her loved ones, after a four-year-long battle against stage 4 colon cancer. Without avail, she fought valiantly and stayed vigilant to the very last breath.
A mother of three, wife of 22 years, an artist of myriad talents, a foodie, a coffee connoisseur, a caretaker and the truest friend to all those she loved, Joy was unwavering in her dedication to overcoming her illness and spreading awareness of colon cancer since her diagnosis in October of 2020. Through her arduous cancer treatment, surgery and continued therapy, she remained kind-hearted, nurturing, strong, determined, and caring until the very end. Joy spread her love wherever she roamed. Of Filipino heritage, Joy was extremely active in the Polynesian community, sharing her incredible talents in traditional hula dancing and floral lei creations, expressing her passions for surfing and stand-up paddle boarding with her ohana, and spending as much time as possible at the beach — her place of solace and safe haven.
Joy loved unconditionally, gave wholeheartedly, and shared unequivocally with everyone she shone her resplendent light upon.
She is survived by extended family members, Teodoro Sr. (79), puppy Sherlock, and those she loved and adored most in her world —her children Isa'bella (16), Nathaniel (22), Joshua (24), and her loving and unfaltering life partner and husband , Ted.
