Mother Janice Patricia Morris-Malone was born on February 7, 1954 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late James Eley and the late Martha Alberta Morris.
She attended Booker T. Washington High School and Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, Virginia. After graduating, Mother Janice was employed with Norfolk City Public Schools for ten years. She then received new employment with Hampton Roads Transit, where she worked for 34 years, retiring in 2018.
Mother Malone Joined Garretts Community Church in 1985 under the leadership of Pastor Henry Nixon where she and her two children regularly attended. While there she volunteered in the Food Pantry, serving those in the community and the church who needed food. She remained there for ten years serving in other ministry departments as well.
Mother Janice later became a member of Chesapeake Christian Center under the leadership of Pastor Marvin Dukes. There she served in the Singles Ministry, The Book Club, The Outreach Ministry and The Seniors Ministry, she even served as an assistant to First Lady Beulah Dukes.
Mother Janice soon met and married Marilyn “Buddy” Malone and joined him at Tabernacle of Prayer for All People. While there, Mother Malone accepted Jesus as her Savior on May 15, 2000. Soon after she was baptized and received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. She served as an armor bearer and assistant to Pastor Dr. Myrtle M. Terry. She also served as an usher, a VBS assistant, the Beautification Department, a grounds keeper, the Hospital Ministry and she even drove the Church van. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology at Tabernacle Bible College in 2011.
After the passing of her last child Marietta Morris her sister-in-law, Sister Felicia Morris, reached out to her and assisted her in preparing and organizing the memorial service for her daughter. The compassion that Sister Felicia exhibited and her witness for the Lord led Mother Janice to make Faith World Ministries her home church and Bishop Ezekiel Williams her Pastor. She was one of the first members to join via the online streaming services, making her in-person membership official in January 2021.
Mother Malone immediately began serving in various areas of the church, including the Pastor’s Aide Committee, the Custodial Care team, the Hospitality Committee, the HOPE Storehouse and the Golden Phenomenal Gems. Her faithfulness to her Bishop, love for the ministry and its people, was demonstrated whenever she entered the Sanctuary. On December 11, 2022, Mother Malone was appointed to the Mother’s Board of Faith World Ministries and later was honored as the 2022 Woman of the Year.
Mother Malone was a godly woman who shined as a guiding light even now. She was a devoted servant of God, a beacon of faith and a woman of unwavering spirit.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Williams Bill Morris, Bobby F. “Big Bob” Morris, and Russell Lee “Big Moe” Morris; one daughter, Marietta Morris; and one son, Terrance Morris.
