Patricia Latham Obituary

Patricia Latham, age 70, a cherished member of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 18, 1954, in Greenville, North Carolina, to Hazel Dunn and Jesse Gist, “Tricia” dedicated her life to the hospitality industry for several years. Her final job was at Virginia Beach Rehabilitation Center, where she worked for seven years before becoming disabled in 2006. Despite this setback, her unwavering faith allowed her to transition into her true passion: babysitting. Tricia had an insatiable love for children and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

One of her favorite pastimes was garage shopping. Every Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m., she would eagerly prepare herself for her weekend adventure. Tricia was also known for her relentless faith, carefree spirit, and infectious laughter. Her smile had the magical ability to light up any room, and she possessed an unparalleled patience, akin to a saint. She belonged to New Life Mission under Bishop Asberry James for over 10 years, where she devoted her life to Christ. She faithfully went to Bible study, prayer, and was dedicated to serving God. She then followed her calling to become a Deaconess at Holy Faith Ministries, under Pastor Mack Moore Sr.

Even when facing her own personal challenges, Tricia maintained a positive outlook and remained willing to lend a helping hand to others. Her remarkable gift was her exceptional memory. She could recall every birthday and appointment with remarkable accuracy, and she didn’t hesitate to reach out with reminders. Tricia cherished her family deeply, but her grandkids held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Gist; sister, Rebecca Butts; two brothers, Jesse Gist Jr., John Gist; grandmother, Bessie Moore; uncles, Frank Moore, Mack Moore Sr., Clarence Moore, and Harold Moore; aunt, Margaret Moore; niece, Georgeanna Brown Jefferson; and nephew Walter Brown.

Patricia, a cherished mother, leaves behind precious memories of her loved ones. She is survived by her children, Clifton Hargrove (special friend, Brittany Babington); Ashley Hines (Billy); mother, Hazel Dunn; sister, Bessie Brown; grandchildren, Quamere Hargrove, K’Mari Davis, Billy Hines Jr., Harlem Hines, SaRayah Hines, Rayven Hines; aunt-in-law, Annette Moore; nieces, goddaughter, Patricia Jones (who is also her great niece); nieces, Hazel Jones (Bruce), Marion Phillips, Tiffany Gist, Natalie Butts, Krystal Wyche; one nephew, Anthony Brown (fiancé Judy Gomez); great-nieces, Shanta Jones, Brittany Eley, Tyshauna Myers, Breauna Coffield, Jasmine Sims, Kaleon Riddick, Khaliyah Butts, Tamari Lawrence; five great-nephews, Deshawn Jefferson, Bruce Jones Jr., Jamal Brown, Jamil Brown, Unique Brown and a host of great great nieces and nephews.
