Paulette Laverne Chesson, 60, entered into eternal rest on June 24, 2024. She was born on January 18, 1964 in Peekskill, NY to the late Ella Mae Sadler and Lawrence Owens. When she was a young girl, her family relocated to Virginia, and she was raised in the Pungo area of Virginia Beach, VA.
Paulette was educated in the Virginia Beach public school system and attended Princes Anne High School. She was employed as a Chef at Westminster Canterbury Retirement Community, where she served for 40 years. Paulette loved the Lord and going to church. She was a member of Ashbury United Methodist Church, under the leadership of Reverend John C. Smith. She was very fashionable, loved fishing, gardening, and most importantly, being a grandma.
Paulette was predeceased by her husband, Harold Chesson Jr.; parents, Ella Mae Sadler, Lawrence Owens; two sisters, Alice Owens, Debbie Whitehurst; and one brother, Eric Sadler.
Paulette leaves to cherish her fond memories, her children, Lovey Owens, Tommy Lee Owens, Olivia Goodman (Barry); eleven grandchildren, Tylique, Tommy Jr., Qualei, Monya, Josiah, D’Monyie, Tamari, D’Jahmir, D’Zyier, Journey, D’Unique; siblings, Lauria Owens, Lawrence Owens Jr., Joyce Anne Sadler, Regina Whitehurst, Michael Whitehurst, Stanley Whitehurst; a host of other relatives and friends.
We really want to thank Paulette for being our mother, grandmother, confidant, advisor, enforcer and regulator…We love you dearly
