Philip Michael Ogram passed on Saturday March 7, 2026 at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
He began his life’s voyage on November 9, 1934, in Hull, England to parents Oliver and Bertha and with siblings Jean, Noel, Bernard, Ken, and Brian. As a 17-year-old, after graduating from Marist College High School, he went to sea as a cadet with Ellerman’s Wilson Line, and later attained his Master Mariner License.
In 1966, Philip migrated to Norfolk, Virginia where he married fellow Hull native Pamela Robinson. Their son Peter was born in 1969. Philip started Stott & Ogram Marine Surveyors in Norfolk in 1973, and he was a fixture in Hampton Roads maritime community and industry. His love of the sea, navigation, and of the world never left him, and he remained a member of The Honorable Company of Master Mariners and the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers. Philip is also remembered as having been a great soccer player and as having helped develop the sport in its early days in Virginia Beach.
Philip is survived by Peter, his wife Elena, and their son Sebastian Philip Ogram.
