Ralph Willis Jefferson, 82, peacefully departed this life on April 8, 2026. He was born on September 30, 1943, at Community Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia.
Ralph was preceded in death by his loving mother, Florence Jefferson; daughter, Tonja Williams; son, Derrick Jefferson; grandparents, Willie and Jane Jefferson; and aunt, Dorothy May Maddox.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted children, his son, Ralph Thorpe (Tarsha), and daughter, Lawanda Lacy (Austin). He is also survived by his beloved aunt, Dolores Griffin (Warner); uncles, Norman Jefferson (Sandra), Raymond Jefferson; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving cousins, family members, and dear friends.
Ralph received his education at Princess Anne County Training School. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, where he retired with the rank of Sergeant. During his honorable service, he completed two tours in the Vietnam War with the Third Tank Battalion from 1965 to 1970. Following his military service, Ralph began a dedicated career with Virginia Beach City Public Schools. He served as a Custodian I at Linkhorn Elementary School and later retired as Head Custodian at Rosemont Elementary School after 20 years of faithful service.
Ralph had a passion for life and enjoyed shooting pool, fishing and crabbing, and most of all, spending time with his family and loved ones.
